How to Maintain Proper pH in Hydroponic Systems?
I’ve been getting into hydroponics lately and one thing that kept messing me up at the start was pH swings. Everything looked fine plants, nutrients, setup but growth was inconsistent and I couldn’t figure out why. Turned out my pH was drifting way more than I realized.
What helped me stabilize it was keeping things really simple instead of overcomplicating it. I started checking pH daily (sometimes twice when things are new or unstable), and adjusting in small steps instead of big corrections. I also learned that mixing nutrients first and then adjusting pH matters a lot, because the solution can shift after nutrients are added.
Now I just use a basic pH meter, keep pH up/down solutions on hand, and aim to keep everything in a steady range instead of chasing perfect numbers. Once I stopped over-adjusting, my plants actually started doing better.
Curious how others here manage pH long-term do you mostly rely on frequent testing, automated systems, or just experience over time?
