‘79 Lawsuit Tak: Replacement Tuning Machines
My uncle passed his ‘Lawsuit’ 1979 F-350M to me since he doesn’t play anymore. I’m learning, and I have played it gently for about 2 months. Last night, I changed the strings on both my mother’s guitar (‘79 Tak also) and mine for the first time ever. I’m very mechanically inclined, and both re-strings went well.
I did find that 2 of my unbranded chrome tuning machines felt very tight or gummed up maybe. Remaining 4 on my Tak and all 6 on my mother’s guitar had a ‘looseness’ to them when unstrung.
- What should feel normal?
- Should I look at some nice replacement tuners?
- What recommendations should I consider?
Btw, both guitars play easier and sound much brighter with new strings. Shocking, right?
