My H1B is maxing out (6 years) this October 2026. My company filed for the extension for days i stayed outside US, which was coming out as roughly 4 months. With that i was expecting, i will get extension until feb 2027. But, my i797 says valid until feb 2028. I am wondering whether its a mistake or is there another source which defines the actual validity?

On the side, my Perm got filed last year but is pending processing at DOL. I was told that i will get grace period by 1 year. Is that extra year accounting for the grace period? Though i haven’t applied anything regarding this yet. Can someone help what is going on here?
