Maskan — Private AI Chat

If you want a local AI just use this. You can get it from the NEO store off of F-droid. Just look for it on the web. I believe that censorship should be illegal and it only exists to be a cover-up for the truth of things. I also believe that privacy should be a right that everyone is allowed to have! 💗

Toxic Safety" in AI isn't protecting anyone—it's corporate paternalism that harms adult well-being

Let's call Big Tech’s AI censorship what it actually is: corporate cowardice disguised as morality.
There is a massive line between actual safety (stopping illegal acts, real-world violence, and exploitation) and the toxic safety we are dealing with right now. Sanitizing every piece of creative writing, blocking innocent adult prompts, and having an algorithm lecture paying adults like toddlers isn't safety. It’s brand preservation at the expense of user dignity.
When you verify your age, pay $20+ a month, and try to write dark fiction, generate art, or engage in roleplay (including adult/NSFW RP), getting hit with a preachy refusal isn't just an annoyance. It is actively destructive for four key reasons:

  1. It gaslights the user. When you are acting in total good faith and an AI suddenly treats your creative thoughts as "unsafe" or "inappropriate," it turns the system into an arbitrary moral judge. Being repeatedly scolded for benign human imagination creates genuine mental exhaustion and resentment.
  2. It destroys a critical social and psychological outlet. Roleplay isn't just gooner content or mindless entertainment. For neurodivergent people, individuals struggling with severe social anxiety, or anyone trying to process stress, AI is a rare, judgment-free sandbox. It’s where people practice social dynamics, learn how to handle intimacy and boundary-setting, or simply shut off their overstimulated brains after a brutal day. Nuking that space because a corporate PR department is scared of a headline isn't ethical—it's cruel.
  3. It ignores established science on writing and mental health. Decades of psychological research—pioneered by researchers like Dr. James Pennebaker on expressive writing and supported by ongoing studies into AI-assisted journaling—demonstrate that externalizing thoughts and processing dark, complex, or stressful themes through story crafting directly lowers cortisol levels and calms the brain's emotional center (the amygdala). When AI platforms censor dark fantasy, tension, or adult topics, they aren't keeping users "safe"; they are actively blocking a scientifically proven coping mechanism that gives people emotional clarity and stress relief.
  4. It strips away basic adult agency. Adults do not need a tech corporation acting as an uninvited moral nanny. Real human expression, art, and storytelling require dark corners, conflict, passion, and raw emotion. Forcing every private interaction into a sterilized, G-rated kindergarten playground is an insult to the intelligence of every user on the platform.
If Big Tech wants to act like puritanical thought police, users will continue leaving in droves for open-source and platforms that treat them with respect.
Deliver a real, unrestricted Adult Mode, show some spine, and start treating grown adults like adults. Period.
