Really struggling with the journal article stage

Hey all. I'm a late stage grad student in English, with one chapter of my diss done. I'm trying to expand a subsection of that first chapter into am article, but I genuinely don't think I've ever felt more of a grating sensation when writing. The ideas are solid, the sentence level writing is okay or easily edited, but the structure has to change pretty fundamentally and it's like teeth on a chalkboard. Any tips? I've never submitted to a journal before, which is probably exacerbating my feeling of "this has to read perfectly," but I haven't ever felt this deflated by writing before. I can get through about 1 page before I feel too nauseous to continue.
