Finished series for first time

As the title says, I have just finished the entire series for the first time. I drug my feet watching Sharpe's Peril as I simply didn't want it to be over but as I understand it, the Indian episodes were generally not as well liked among the fan group. Honestly, I don't quite know why. Sharpe's Challenge has one of the most tense scenes out of the series, where Dodd forces Sharpe to "shoot" Harper to prove his loyalty and, speaking of Dodd, Toby Stepehns was an absolute delight to watch as the villain. I will admit that Peril was not as good as Challenge but I still really enjoyed it and in my opinion, that final scene where Simmerson calls Sharpen by his first name and shakes his hand was just *chef's kiss*. I'm a sucker for a good slow, respect earning arc and Peril did not disappoint. I also did not expect to hear the name Hakeswill again and was pleasantly surprised at how that turned out as well. Overall, I am a massive fan of this series now and must find all the novels post-haste. But for now, I will say God save Ireland and head over the hills and far away!

Fun game idea

One of my last posts gave me an idea for a game. Write an AITA post as a character from Sharpe and everyone has to guess who it is. I'll start with an easy one and feel free to add more in the comments.

AITA? Let me start by saying that, as a child, I was bitten by a Mastiff and I have carried a deep seeded fear of dogs into adulthood. Fast forward to present day and I am now the commanding officer of a training facility whose sole purpose is to whip these pieces of filth into shape and turn them into proper soldier for His Majesty's Royal Armed Forces.

Now, a fresh batch of recruits was brought in and one of them had the sheer audacity to bring his dog with him. While the men were in formation, said dog attacked. My sergeant, a good man by the name of Lynch, was able to stop the beast before it could harm me but the damage was done and the men saw me show fear. I promptly had a corporal take the beast away to be shot. Never mind that it tried to attack me, this is a military instillation and law and order must be kept! I was well within my rights to handle the situation as I did and I commend Sergeant Lynch for his quick action in stopping the beast from harming me. And before anyone tries to play the Horse Guards card, I am well aware of Horse Guards and they are well aware of me.

TL;DR: AITA for having a dog shot after it tried to attack me during formation?

AITA?

I promised my wife I would stop fighting after my last battle. Upon return from said battle, I was accused of something I didn't do and was forced to fight a duel to keep my honor intact. I ended up not killing the guy but somebody else did and I got blamed for it so I had to go on the run. After I went to great lengths to clear my name and prove my innocence, I returned to find my wife had run away and taken all of my money(10,000 guineas!) and had started cheating on me with my friend.

TL;DR Am I the ass hole for being forced to break my promise to defend my honor?

Edit: I still love her and when I find the man that stole her from me, I swear I will kill the gutless coward
