Just pure magic on screen

It's crazy that David Byrne never directed another movie after making this one because he really had one hell of a creative mind for film. Whimsical, weird, hilarious, and overall fun, I couldn't get enough of the look into this small town in Texas and the odd people who inhabit it. John Goodman is so memorable as Louis Fyne and Byrne being a neutral observer works so well and his outfits are top tier. Genuinely one I need to buy ASAP.

One of my new favorites in the Criterion Collection

Didn't think I'd love this as much as I did, but the cinematography is among some of the best of any black & white film of the past. This simple story of a woman's fear of being turned into a cat if she's physically intimate with her husband is quite sad and tragic, and the performances and direction anchor it so well. Jacques Tourneur has a really interesting set of films to his name.

A wild one for sure

John Waters makes some truly one of a kind films and this one is no different. It only makes me curious to see works such as Serial Mom, Cecil B Demented, and much more. Divine is a joy as always and really solidifies herself as his creative soulmate.
