Just did my first confession

I was baptized and confirmed last month at the Easter Vigil (thanks be to God!), but I had been hesitating to go to confession because I was absolutely terrified of the embarrassment.

It finally got to the point where I couldn't take Holy Communion knowing I wasn't in a state of grace, and honestly, that hurt me a lot.

Today, I finally found the courage. I did a thorough examination of conscience, wrote out a script for myself, drove to the church, lined up, and entered the confessional.

The priest (who I didn't personally know) was incredible. He was extremely kind to hear my confession and reacted better than I could have ever imagined.

He listened well, completely understood my situation, and couldn't have been more compassionate. I felt incredibly relieved afterward and was finally able to receive Communion at the vigil Mass tonight.

Long story short: if you are hesitating to go to confession because of fear or embarrassment (and trust me, your fear couldn't be worse than mine was), just go. The grace and relief on the other side are completely worth it!
