5.8 to 5.4 A1C in 12 months
May 2025 5.8, June 2026 5.4. 51F
I was so nervous today going for my checkup and blood work because I had gained weight in the past year (8 pounds). I was certain I had moved closer to diabetes because of the weight gain and was stunned when I saw the results.
I am DONE dieting and my doctor and I discussed targeting 1850-2000 calories a day (my idea and I am tall). DONE DONE DONE dieting. Never doing it again. I don't care if it takes 3 years to lose 40 pounds. I think I gained the weight because of the restricted eating right after the prediabetes blood work and then the predictable overeating. It has been so hard to reel that back in and for the past month I have been steady at the 1850-2000 calorie range and don't feel like I am on a diet.
So, I think what helped reduce my A1C was the activity. I have been doing at least 7500 steps a day and since the Spring have been adding in a lot of yard and garden work which I enjoy and my yard looks great. On those days, I get 11,000 - 17,000 steps. I am outside daily but probably 2-3 days a week are the significant days.
Entered menopause during this past year which has been interesting too.
This is my first post ever and I hope that someday it helps someone. I have been reading all of your posts for some time now and they have helped to keep me going.
Take care.
