The Grizzlies Gained Value in the JJJ Trade Under New Rules
I keep seeing people talking about how the Grizzlies are mad that the 2027 Jazz/Cavs/Wolves pick losing value... none of those teams will be bottom 5 so that makes no sense.
The Suns 2031 pick just became much more valuable though. This is a team that doesn't have many options in terms of how to improve until beyond 2031, they also don't own their picks so there's already no incentive to tank but I also think they're going to have a hard time making the playoffs with a 34 year old Booker and whatever free agents they can sign and late draft picks they do have. There's a great chance they do finish the year in that 6-12 range that gets the best odds.
I still think we made the right call on JJJ (especially if we get DP), I just think the bellyaching by the Grizzlies is very silly.
