First Rare Fur

New hunter here. Just picked up the game on the Xbox spring sale. Base game only for now. I’m about 40 hours in and already came across my first albino! I didn’t even know rare fur types were in the game until I started lurking here.

First photo was from yesterday when I first saw him. I had just gotten to Cheelah and was marching around discovering need zones when I came across this guy. Unfortunately I spooked him and was terrified he was gone forever. I chased him for about an hour all over Cheelah before I called it. Thanks to Google I quickly learned they stay on your map and generally return to the same areas.

Second photo was from today. I went back to the same need zone. I got there early. It’s a 12-16 time zone and I was there by 11 hanging out. Sure enough 12:30 this guy come marching out of the trees. Had an absolutely perfect angle on him.

Vital hit dropped him instantly. I am stoked!

Happy hunting 🫡

Something that I’ve always been curious about is why the writers chose to name the first few earth vessels after Greek Mythology. It’s proven in universe that the Goa’uld were involved in / responsible for the Greek pantheon. Cronus, Ares, and Athena all appear in the show. So why did they choose to name our ships Prometheus, Daedalus, and Apollo. Isn’t it possible that those figures were also just Goa’uld?

I give the Odyssey a pass because that’s a human story and although the gods play a role in it, it’s very much earth based literature written after the Goa’uld had left earth.

Honestly, I would have stayed away from any mythology just to be safe. Would have made more sense to name the ships in a more conventional fashion, perhaps honoring other famous military vessels or American cultural ideals (Freedom, Independence, Justice, Exploration etc .)

What’s everyone else’s thoughts?
