Virginia Gov. Spanberger vetoes proposal for legalized marijuana marketplace

Virginia Gov. Spanberger vetoes proposal for legalized marijuana marketplace

A marajuana bill is not currently on my list of priorities these days, but I am posting this as "seeking optimism" mainly because I would like some insight from the smarter people in the room here.

I can't discuss this in the Virginia subreddit because the general vibe over there is Fuck Dems™

*Why* would someone like Spanberger make a move THIS unpopular? In a moment where cultivating support for Dems is so critical, why would she veto a marketplace bill that people have been screaming for for years and was being blocked by the former Governor?

What am I not seeing, what is the strategy? Or, who benefits from this veto? The article suggests she wanted ammendments to make the regulations better or something, but currently the market exists entirely unregulated. Surely any regulations already in the bill would have been better than nothing.

I am approaching this mostly as a political learning opportunity. Is the media burying a lead, or is this just a typical "out of touch politician" move?

Let me hear your strategies for punching up "boring" chapters

I read once that if a scene feels dull or boring, then try changing the weather. I've loved this advice because for some reason it really does help me. It makes me look at the scene through a different lens and adds some extra layers of discomfort or pleasure for the characters.
