Need Help From Someone Who is Knowledgeable About Bodybuilding
Can someone who really understands bodybuilding help me figure out a few things? I’ve been training for about a year. During this time I changed my training program many times, changed exercises, and was constantly trying to find the perfect program for myself. Right now I train with this split and want to know what you think about it.
NOTE: I’m 19 years old, 70 kg / 154 lb, 170 cm / 5'7", training naturally, and I’ve never had a coach.
Monday: chest 3, side and rear delts 2, biceps 2, triceps 1 (light).
Wednesday: back 5.
Thursday: front and side delts 2, triceps 2, biceps 1 (light).
Friday: legs 5.
I made this program myself specifically for me, with more focus on arm growth. I train like this: two weeks hard (trying to increase either reps or weight if reps are already high), then one week where I reduce working weights by 20% and leave 2–3 reps in reserve. I do this so my CNS doesn’t get overloaded and also so my tendons can recover along with my muscles.
So what’s the problem? The problem is that I’m never fully sure that everything I’m doing is correct, and I constantly think that maybe I could improve my program even more and therefore get better growth. Overall, I don’t see especially great progress, so I always feel like I’m doing something wrong.
Some people will probably say “just keep going and give it time,” but honestly I don’t think it’s that simple.
As for nutrition and recovery, everything is good there. My protein, fats, and carbs are all in check, and I don’t use any sports supplements except zinc, magnesium, vitamin D, and omega-3.
Please tell me what I’m doing wrong, what could be better, and give me absolutely any advice that could help. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.
