Career/Role transition after burnout

Interested in hearing if anyone has successfully navigated this and what pointers they may have.

I'm in my mid 30s & currently working within a product position in the asset management industry. It's unfortunate that it took me so long to realise that my temperament doesn't do well in a fast-paced, aggressive and abrasive culture. I find it quite paralysing. My manager and team are pretty toxic and I've tried to grow thick skin and withstand it - constant change of priorities, being accused of things and shouted at, the aggression etc. I literally took a sick day today just so I could do my work and not have to interact with my manager where I knew he would be aggressive and breaking me down for the work I do (it is his working style and he calls himself a perfectionist).

I used to work at a bank previously and experienced the same thing. I'm sure there are roles/teams in finance that aren't like this. I'm trying to apply to other roles but my experience is really niche and I also don't want to find myself in the same kind of environment again.

I live in London and earn around £85k - a lot of this goes towards my mortgage and towards treatment (I have a few health issues (autoimmune, nervous system) that aren't covered by health insurance). I'd be open to dropping this but I just need to be consideratee of my expenses.

Anyone been through the same thing with a toxic culture and transitioned to something less intense in finance (or outside of finance) without hugely dropping your income? If so, did you need to change your CV much?
