Can I still get into U of T Architecture with IB Math AI SL instead of AA SL?

Hi everyone! I’m interested in studying architecture at University of Toronto in the future (Daniels Faculty) and I’m currently thinking about my IB subject choices.

I really enjoy creative/design-related things like architecture, interior design, graphic design, art, etc. My grades are usually strong, and I think I could get very high marks overall in Grade 12 inshaAllah. The issue is math 😭

I’m okay at algebra and equations, but I really dislike geometry/trigonometry/angles/shapes. Because of that, I was considering taking Math AI SL instead of AA SL since it seems more manageable for me.

My questions are:

  • Can students still realistically get into U of T Architecture with AI SL?
  • Would AA SL give a major advantage?
  • If I had very strong grades + a strong creative portfolio/supplementary application, would AI SL still be okay?
  • For current architecture students: how math-heavy is the program actually?

I’m worried requirements might become more competitive by the time I apply in a few years, so I’m trying to choose wisely now. (im 13 in grade 7 rn btw) so has any one of you gotten into university of toronto for architecture doing mathematics ai sl?? plz let me know and give some tips loll just planning for my future.

Any advice would really help 💕
