Should I switch GI doctors
As the title reads im currently contemplating switching GI doctor's. I am currently in a flare (and have been for over a month now) I notified my current GI office when the first signs showed. I got blocked work (normal) and calproctin (in the 400s). At the time I was also screened for C-diff. I notablely have no signs of C-diff (i work in health care and also know the smell of c-diff). This test came back as a lab error for incorrect temperature storage (not on my fault but the labs as the testing labs is over 4 hours away by car).
My current GI office is a doctor and 4 NPs and 1 PA under him. I have seen all practitioners (not by request but by the front office scheduling me with different practitioners. The PA, who I saw last recently will not prescribe me steroids without a negative C-diff. I have never had this issue with any other practitioners. My issue with this, is that I am in America and my insurance requires me to use a certain lab. I would have to take off an additional 2 days of work for the test to maybe be completed.
Also to note my last colonoscopy was when I was 17, I turn 21 this year and have not been told of any follow up scopes. When I was diagnosed, my pediatric GI told my i would need them yearly.
I guess im just looking for advice with those who have experienced similar?
