How old do you think my cat is?
Hi guys! This is Tiger, my partner and I adopted him from the human society in March 2023, we were told he was 14 at the time. We have his exact birthday and according to it, he’d be 17. But he doesn’t act how I’d expect a 17 year old cat to act. The oldest cat I ever had was 15 and she didn’t show any visible signs of aging till she just passed one day in her sleep. Tiger is very skinny. Maybe 5 pounds, though I don’t have a scale so I’m not certain. A few months ago I noticed he was really boney, and then I just realized how old and frail he looked so I upped his calorie and protein intake by almost doubt, according to a vetco doctor he wasn’t getting nearly enough. But anyway, he still jumps over baby gates and even occasionally gets on top of the cat trees. My question is, does he really look 17? Could I have been punked all those years ago into thinking I adopted an old man when he was really a middle aged man? It’s worth noting also that he’s DIRTY, he requires weekly baths and daily brushing. He’s got periodontal disease so he slobbers 24/7 and it STINKS. Anyway, how old do you think he is?
