I built a simpler Markdown app because Obsidian felt like too much - 50% off for anyone interested

Hey everyone - I recently launched the alpha of Noto, a Markdown app I built because I wanted something cleaner and less overwhelming.

I like Markdown, but I kept bouncing off bigger apps because they felt too powerful for what I actually needed day to day. I did not want a whole system to manage. I wanted a fast place to write, edit, and keep Markdown files without the app getting in the way.

So I built Noto around that idea: simple Markdown writing, a cleaner interface, and fewer distractions.

To be clear: if you love Obsidian, deep customization, plugins, and complex workflows, Noto probably is not for you. I am building this for people who want the opposite - something lighter and more straightforward.

I would really appreciate honest feedback on

I launched my markdown app in alpha - if you want to try it, comment or dm me and I’ll send you a 40% discount code

Hey everyone - I just launched my markdown app Noto.

I built it because I wanted something simpler and easier to use. I kept finding that the bigger apps felt like too much for what I actually needed, so I focused on making Noto clean, straightforward, and fast to use.

If you like apps like Obsidian and enjoy lots of depth and complexity, this probably is not the right fit for you. Noto is for people who want a simpler Markdown app that gets out of the way.

I would really appreciate any honest feedback on:

  • what feels confusing
  • what feels missing
  • what would make it better for daily use
  • whether the simpler approach makes sense to you

If you comment on this post or send me a message, I’ll give you a 40% discount code for it.

Giving away free keys for feedback — simple Markdown notes app for people who enjoy lightweight writing tools

I recently launched a simple Markdown notes app for Windows and I’m looking for honest feedback from people who enjoy lightweight writing tools.

I built it because I wanted something that stays out of the way: clean writing, local-first notes, fast search, and solid Markdown support without a lot of extra complexity.

I’m not trying to compete with larger apps like Obsidian feature-for-feature. Those apps work great for a lot of people, but I personally wanted something simpler and more focused.

The app is still early, so I’d especially love feedback on:

  • usability
  • things that feel confusing or annoying
  • missing basics
  • bugs or performance issues
  • anything that feels off

If you try it and share feedback, I’m happy to give away a few free keys to commenters/DMs.

I just launched a simple Markdown notes app for Windows.

I built it because I wanted something that stays out of the way: clean writing, local-first notes, fast search, and no unnecessary clutter.

I am not trying to compete with bigger apps like Obsidian by adding more and more features. For me, Obsidian was not quite the right fit — I wanted something much simpler, with great Markdown support, so I made this.

It is definitely not for everyone. If you like larger, more feature-heavy apps, that is totally fine. But if they feel overbloated to you, you might like this.

If this sounds interesting and you end up trying it, I would really appreciate any feedback — especially bugs or anything that feels off.

I’m also giving away a few free keys to people who comment or DM me.

I wanted something that just gets out of the way: clean writing, fast search, local-first notes, no clutter.

A lot of apps keep adding features. That’s great for some people, but it wasn’t what I needed. Even tools like Obsidian felt like more than I wanted — so I made something simpler with solid Markdown support.

This isn’t for everyone. If you like powerful, feature-heavy apps, you’ll probably want to stick with those. But if you’ve ever felt they’re a bit overkill, this might be exactly what you’re looking for.

If you try it, I’d genuinely love your feedback — bugs, rough edges, anything that feels off.

I’ll give a few free keys to people who comment or DM me.

Hey everyone,

I just launched my first application, and for now it’s only available on Windows since I haven’t had the chance to test it on Mac yet.

It’s a note-taking app focused on making Markdown writing faster and easier. The goal is to keep the same familiar Markdown syntax, but improve the overall writing experience. For example, tables are much easier to type and edit.

If anyone wants to try it for free, either send me a private message or just comment on this post and I’ll send you a free lifetime access key.
