I live in an extremely old home and we recently installed new double French doors for our patio. We’ve always had issues with the door latching with our old doors throughout the year. Sometimes they latch and other times they don’t. I’m assuming it’s the home shifting with changes in the weather.

I thought this would be fixed with new doors but still having the issue dispite adjusting the strike plate a couple times since the install. I’m assuming it’s going to keep changing through the year as it always has. Would I be able to just install a longer strike plate so that there’s always enough space to latch? Or is that not a good idea?
