My car was stolen in April and a claim was made with my insurance company, by the time they got around to doing a market value assessment it was mid May and the car was found. Currently the car is awaiting drug testing before assessment of the vehicle can take place ,it can either be repaired or written off.

My policy is due to expire this month, from a claim perspective the claim was made during the policy dates so it's covered.

My question is do I need to renew or would any new damage to the car be a liability on the insurance company/repairer as they currently have the car. If the car does go for repairs i've been told it could be off the road for months.
