Frame Management
EAST TN- 3rd year beekeeper
I have 2 hives. One is doing excellent, and the other is doing terrible and seems like it may be a total loss.
The weak hive was a nuc from earlier this spring, but it always seemed weak. They wouldn’t take sugar syrup, there was very little activity, and they weren’t drawing comb.
I introduced a new queen because there was brood present, but there still hasn’t been any real change.
At this point, the hive appears to be queenless. I did not find a queen, any supersedure cells, or even queen cups during my inspection.
My question now is what should I do with the frames that have honey and already drawn comb? Can I move them over to my strong hive?
I’m unsure why the weak hive has struggled so much and am concerned about transferring something harmful into the strong hive. I also did not see any obvious signs of foulbrood or infestations.
Thank you for the help
