I live in El Paso, TX and am currently growing watermelon 🍉. It got around time for me to repot my plants and I noticed in one of the pots a bunch of these bugs in the bottom. Now the root system for this watermelon was way more damaged and reduced than the root system for another pot I had been growing watermelon in (this pot didn't have any worms in it). I think it's safe to say that the worms were stunting my plants growth by eating the roots constantly. Can anyone help me figure out what kind of worms these are? The pots had compost w a mix of top soil and potassium rich fertilizer and they got waters regularly throughout the day.
