Yeah, kind of a vent piece, because idk the people in my life are genuinely too positive and believe in me too much for them to feel as hopeless about this as i do (#flex). Got a decent ish rank (1k) in GATE ECE but it did not guarantee an admission into the institutes of my choice (iisc, top 7 iits) without interviews and a lotta luck.
Let me tell you, i think only luck can take me so far because all interviews i have given (iisc ece, iitk msr, iitd msr) have all gone to shit. Like, so badly that i cant focus on studying for other interviews. And i feel like i dont prepare well for the the interview, it goes shittily and the cycle fucking repeats.
I am neither underconfident, nor technically inept- but still when i go for the interviews, i feel like a dumb freak. I know im not supposed to know all the answers and they are checking my approach to the problems but man (T-T) my approach is time consuming and i feel like i comeoff as stupid here. Everytime i go for an interview, i try to cover all my bases and hope that it will be enough but somehow i always fuck it up.
Like i literally used the word photolithography galti se in my iitd interview and they dug so deep into it and i just sat there like an idiot trying to explain a concept i knew very little about (btw yes, i did tell them that i am not sure on the details of how it works but still). AND THEY GAVE ME ANOTHER CHANCE TOO - they asked me to draw the cross section of a mosfet and explain how all that works, did well on that BUT I DIDNT DRAW THE FUCKING METAL LAYER WHAT KINDA IDIOT DOESNT DRAW THE METAL LAYER IN A **METAL** OXIDE SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE BRO. fir they asked me about pinch off voltage and i just kinda gave up and said 'i am so sorry'. they taught the concepts to me, the professors were all so sweet and nice (but they did tell me i should get more project experience before i go for a master's so XD kya hi bol sakte hain)
