You know the job market is bad when?

Hi all

I have been working towards the goal of getting work.
I have enrolled in three courses “short ones”
And completed two other courses in the meantime.

I have been applying through agencies, seek, indeed, job hubs and walk ins through in person hand ins.

But today really got me kinda gave me a let down.

I applied for two jobs yesterday and it was an immediate rejection.
Both were fast food.
I actually thought with my new resume with my new skills I acquired would have at least would have given me a head start in that position not to be immediately denied.
Especially when it was a no experience positions.

But I’m still trying to be positive and keep upskilling till I get somewhere.

[this isn’t my experience but a friend experienced this in the past 6 months]

They’ve had two interviewers ask these questions and I want to know if that’s a red flag.

And if other people had this experience in the current job market.

1st encounter: A lady asked for their age in a interview over a job position.

2nd encounter: Someone asked about their ethnicity over a name.

They’re white and it’s really muddled their confidence in job interviews.

As they have done their research and they think they finally might be in for a win and they throw these questions at them

It’s made them so self conscious they are going through names like Jordan and Jayden to putting another name on their resume.
