Hello,
I’m fairly new to the world of blogging; I’ve only ever had a brief experience with Tumblr. I didn’t enjoy the platform or the lack of control, so I deleted it. I’ve also used Wix and Weebly in the past—neither of which I liked. I have the most basic knowledge of HTML/CSS but want to advance my skills.

The dream goal is to have a blog and in the future a faceless YouTube channel.

Blog functions I want:
• Custom domain.
• Ownership of my content and site.
• Polls.
• Comment section.
• Guest book.
• Basically just a place to receive feedback and interact with my audience.
• The ability to tag and organize my posts.
• Media support: Picture/Video.
• Options for monetization.

Hosting:
• Environmentally-friendly/Green host preferable. I am willing to bend on this if I cannot find any reputable sources that serve my needs.
• WHOIS privacy protection.
• Availability of online help resources, live chat, and phone support.

Concerns:
I aim to be an adult commentary blog, (mainly movies,) so I’d like to be liberal with my language and opinions, and not become pedantic about it.

I also have some concerns about security. Ideally, I would like to hide my IP address or anything that would trace back to my identity. I’ve had an abuser/stalker in the past and do not want them to locate me.

My basic understanding; correct me if I’m wrong:

General rule: Do not Host your website with the same company as your website registrar.

Domain = The rentable address of your website, usually a .com. Essentially, it is just paying for a name. You purchase a domain on a website registar.

Hosting = The website that will host/power the domain/address you own.

Hosting Considering:
Ghost [Highly considering!!]
Bear Blog [Highly considering!!]
• Write.as [Needs research.]
• Lykhari [Needs research.]
Pika [Needs research, but probably too minimal.]

Ruled out, unless convinced otherwise:
• ✖︎ Blogger - They are finicky with adult content and won’t monetize it, so probably not here(?)
• ✖︎ Mataroa - Too minimalist.
• ✖︎ Substack
• ✖︎ Tumblr
• ✖︎ Medium
• ✖︎ Weebly
• ✖︎ Strawpage
• ✖︎ Wix
• ✖︎ Wordpress. ORG or COM.

Domain Considering:
• Porkbun [Highly considering!!]

Ruled out, unless convinced otherwise:
• ✖︎ IONOS
• ✖︎ A2/Hosting .com
• ✖︎ Namecheap
• ✖︎ GoDaddy
• ✖︎ BlueHost
• ✖︎ Dreamhost
• ✖︎ Siteground
• ✖︎ Network Solutions
• ✖︎ Namesilo
• ✖︎ Dynadot
• ✖︎ Squarespace

Whew, this was long. I hope I got my point across and I am looking forward to hearing your suggestions/feedback!
Whatever I end up choosing, I will do a review on to aid others. ☆

THE FORM

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US
Undetermined. Budget-friendly is always appreciated, but I’m in this for the long haul. Under $5,000USD.
Are you open to refurbs/used?
Would prefer new, but open to used if a reliable listing is provided.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Build quality and performance. Battery life can be lower, as I will mostly be stationary.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Portability is not the highest concern. I care more about weight and size impacting performance. Ex: I don’t care if the fan is loud, as long as it will prevent overheating.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
14-18 Inch.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Workflow: Programming/coding, blogging, video editing [Youtube/Short movies], and animation.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
 N/A.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?  Good keyboard and reliable quality build. 100% sRGB coverage. 64GB RAM minimum, 128GB optimal. 1TB minimum, 2TB optimal. Backlit keyboard. Do NOT want: MacOS [Requirements suit Windows.]
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
Hello, I am in the market for a new laptop. Be honest. This is my first high end laptop. I’m serious about wanting to devote myself to the workflow I mentioned, but… The most expensive laptop I’ve owned was $300-400. That being said, do you think 128GB is seriously a requirement I should aim for? I don’t want a ‘bandaid’ solution where I’ll have to shell out more money for a higher end model in the future, but I can’t tell if it’s something to aim for right now.
Any suggestions that suit my needs are welcomed, and also any critique or reviews of why I should strike an option off my considerations list.
Much appreciated; thanks!
I’ll be sure to do a review of whatever I end up going with. ☆
Top choice:
Thinkpad P16 Gen 2
Asus ProArt px13 GoPro edition
Other considerations:
Asus ProArt px13
Asus ProArt P16
Thinkpad P1 Gen 7
Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 9
Lenovo Legion Pro 5i
Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 i9 with 64GB of RAM and an RTX 4080 or 4090.
Edit: Only access is mobile, which is messing up the template. …Thus furthering the need for a new laptop ASAP.
