I run a boutique-style, in-home dog boarding (small group, premium care), so I’m definitely not on the cheaper side in my area.

I just got a request that feels a bit… off, and I’d love some outside opinions.

The person is asking for a VERY long stay (basically 1–2 months) and said they’re moving in with family to save money so they can buy a house, and can’t bring their dogs. They didn’t include much info about the dogs themselves (behavior, routine, etc.), just that they “can’t live without them” and want to “work something out.”

To me it feels like:

Possibly looking for a big discount / cheap long-term solution

Not really understanding the cost of premium boarding

Or just a vague / incomplete request

I don’t want to assume the worst, but I also don’t want to get into a situation where expectations don’t match.

Would you consider this a red flag, or just someone who doesn’t know how to ask properly? How would you handle it?
