20s-30s Ecclesiastical Stained Glass
There’s always old church’s being torn down in my hometown, and I’ve always wanted to get a piece of glass out of them. At an estate sale recently I came across this piece and picked it up for a few hundred bucks, and couldn’t pass it up. Just recently got a diffused LED strip mounted behind it to really show it off. From my research it’s likely from the 20s-30s and created by Jacoby Studios around St. Louis, Mo. It likely came out of a North City church in Stl.
Is there any specific care I need to take while cleaning this piece, outside of the lead that I’m sure is in the solder and surfaces? Anything to look out for, or absolutely not do to it?
The piece itself has the Pilgrims Staff and purse on it, symbols attributed to Saint James the Greater. Makes me think there’s probably a dozen of these panels that were made, but I haven’t had any luck in that research yet.
