Hinesburg Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges
Williston, VT — Ryan S. Orvis, 47 of Hinesburg, was taken into custody by detectives from the Chittenden County Sheriff's Office Street Crimes Unit, the Williston Police Department Detective Division, and the Hinesburg Police Department following an investigation into multiple crimes throughout Chittenden County.
As a result of the investigation, Orvis has been charged with:
· Burglary
· Grand Larceny
· Receiving Stolen Property
· Retail Theft
Investigators allege that Orvis is connected to multiple criminal incidents that occurred throughout the county. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as investigators continue to review evidence.
Following his arrest, Orvis was lodged at the Northwest Correctional Center and is being held on $2,500 bail.

The Vermont State Police has responded to three suspected drowning incidents in the past 24 hours. VSP reminds the public that state waterways are running high and have strong currents following recent thunderstorms and rainy weather. People should be mindful of conditions and take precautions before entering any body of water, including checking water levels, flow rates, weather forecasts and the potential for underwater obstacles; using a buddy system; and always swimming sober.

Found Dog / Seeking Information

On June 8, 2026, a female tan dog was found near Riverside Ave and Intervale Ave in Burlington. The dog appears to be a small pug and was wearing a pink collar but had no tags and was not microchipped.
We are looking for help in identifying the owners. If you are the owner or have any information, please call (802) 658-2700 and press 9 to speak with dispatch.
In addition to what is laid out in the attached media releases, BPD responded to the area of Shelburne Street and Locust Street at approximately 2:45 AM for multiple reports of gun fire. Officers were in the area quickly but were unable to identify a ballistic crime scene or eyewitnesses.
Anyone with information about the gun fire incident, to include relevant ambient video footage, is asked to contact Officer Victor Montalvo.

Shaun had a statues conference today. He appeared remotely from GraceHouse in Rutland. He has approximately 35 days left in rehab. His lawyers are trying to transition him to residential housing after rehab which they’re finding hard to do because of his sex offender registry status. They are also filing for a ‘Treatment Court’ referral.

JUVENILE: Olivia Champagne
AGE: 15
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Burke, VT
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 05/09/2026, at approximately 1755 hours, Vermont Troopers were notified of a runaway juvenile on US Route 5 in the town of Burke, VT. Investigation revealed that Olivia Champagne (15) left her residence without permission. Champagne was picked up and brought to Danville, VT by an unknown individual. A clothing description of what Champagne was wearing is a white hoodie, grey leggings, "cranberry jordans," and a bright orange pocketbook. A photo of Champagne is attached.
