ESO player seeking a new MMO - Is it still worth starting FFXIV right now, in 2026 ?
Hello ! So, first of all, I'm not here to see if FFXIV is better than ESO or not. I'm not seeking a "better" MMO, but rather a new experience.
I'd like to know if FFXIV is worth starting in 2026. I have a few questions :
- I've heard that there is a free trial, or some kind of free level before having to sub. Is it still a thing, and to what extent ?
- Is it possible to reach the "endgame" as a new player ? With how much dedication ?
- If some of you played ESO before, how does the story / progression / daily farm /... compare to ESO ? It might help me know what to expect if I play on a daily basis.
- How is the state of the community ? Regarding elitism, social activities (RP, Event, or random interaction) or even the general mood ?

EDIT : Wow, so much answer in such a short time ! At least, the community is really active and from what I can see, quite friendly ! I think I'll give a shot to this MMO
