How does recency work for science courses? Do they start counting from the year you passed the course or failed it?

For reference these are the exact order I took my classes and the grades I received. I am asking this specifically for nursing school admissions.

Spring 2023: Anatomy 1st attempt - F

Fall 2024 (after taking a intro class): Anatomy 2nd attempt - B+

Spring 2025: Physiology 1st attempt - D

Summer 2025: Microbiology 1st attempt - A+

Fall 2025: Physiology 2nd attempt - A+

I feel so let down right now.

Is there a chance that i can get into the following nursing programs with multiple science prereqs repeated? I took
physiology 3 times and anatomy 2 times.

ADN Programs
- LBCC
- LACC
- Cypress College
- Golden West College

Upper Division BSN Programs
- CSUF
- CSULB
- SFSU
- SDSU

Many of these universities and colleges only allow one retake out of the 3 sciences (anatomy, physiology, microbiology). Some of them require to get a higher grade by the second attempt. Some have unlimited retakes as long as you do better than the grade you attempted before.

I hope there is someone out there who was or is in a similar situation as me since I don’t have that much hope left in me. I am also hoping to start a job or volunteer in the medical field as an entry position and study for my TEAS as well as CASPer.

I’ve done some of my research of nearby colleges and only picked the ones that I may qualify for. If anyone knows of any other colleges or universities around Los Angeles area that accept repeated science courses, please let me know. I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

(I really don’t want to attend West Coast University or any private university because of the cost and the amount of loans. My parents already have a lot of loan to pay off as it is, so I don’t want to add more to their plate.)

In need of advice as a future nursing student.

Hello. I felt these 2 questions are important for me to ask since some students have applied before me and this was the most reliable website that I can discuss in.

I don't know of any place that conducts TEAS or CASPER tests. I would really appreciate it if someone helps me because I've been quite stressed out on not being able to do that even on the ATI website. I am not sure if schools such as Cypress or LBCC will ask for in-person test scores or online test scores.

I also wanted to know if I am the only one who has repeated Anatomy 2 times, and physiology 3 times. That basically disqualifies me from applying to Cerritos College and some CSUs, but I don't see repeats being mentioned anywhere for LBCC or Cypress College.

Sorry it's a very long request, I've been really overwhelmed lately because I don't know of anyone who can give me good advice. I will be very, very appreciative of anyone who can help me. Thank you so, so, so much!😊
