Should I choose a Kobo Libra color or Boox Go7?

I’ve been a kindle user for 16 years and after my kindle keyboard died after 7 years, I got a paperwhite (6” screen), but after 3 years I bought a Kindle Oasis because of the page turn buttons. It’s been almost 7 years and I’m worried my Oasis will crap out and I’ll be without page turn buttons again.

I’ve been thinking about gifting myself either a Boox Go7 (B&W) or a Kobo Libra Color at some point and need opinions. I’m really interested in having all the reading apps including Hoopla on the Boox. Now, personally I don’t care about color, just page turn buttons, but the Kobo does looks pretty cool. Technically, I could get another kindle if mine dies and use the paper turner I have but it’s just one more thing to keep up with and not as convenient. Tbh, if kindle came out with an ereader with pageturn buttons, I would probably get it because I do think they’re good ereaders, but they have no intention to.

My concerns with the Kobo is the clarity of the text of color ereaders and the fact that it’s a closed system like kindle and I couldn’t get KU books. My worry about Boox is getting a lemon and not getting to get it replaced or fixed and it’s more expensive. Also, I’m not too concerned about battery life for either considering my oasis isn’t that great on battery life anymore. I’ve heard both aren’t as sturdy as kindle but I will get a case and screen protector for either one.

What are your experiences with these devices? Pros & Cons? Anyone went from a kindle to either of these devices? What is the actual reading experience like in terms of the what the text looks like and ease of use of the buttons compared to the Kindle?

Thanks so much
