Repatriating money outside of India
Has anyone recently repatriated money outside of India? I am at the final stages of closing a property sale and the recent downturn of the INR has made me very anxious after seeing the drop in the conversion amount that I will receive. I understand that no one can predict how things will turn out over the next few weeks or months but I wanted to check if anyone in the community has transferred money out of India recently or if you are holding out for an ideal moment to do it. What are your thoughts and ideas?
Since this is from a property sale and I do not want to invest in any new real estate I see my options limited to:
a) forgetting the conversion rate and repatriating it as is
b) investing the funds in GoI bond
c) transferring the money to an NRE account, putting it in a FD for a year to earn interest and waiting it out to see if the situation improves.
I am really at a crossroad right now and would love to hear your experiences and suggestions.
