Advice on asking for a raise on contract extention

So I've worked nearly 3 years for my current employer which is TeamHealth. Time is coming up for me to renew my contract (had a 3-year one), I've had no major complaints from anybody and am generally liked as a hard worker, and I know they want to extend my contract since they're already paying a lawyer to get me a green card (this is my J-1 waiver job, they've already filed for my PERM). My question is this, I've been told you never get what you don't ask for, so should I ask for a slight hourly pay bump to adjust for inflation or like a retention bonus or should I just shut up? Looking for insights especially from people who've been in a similar spot.
