I have an idea for a friendly Dragon encounter. But that is an oversimplification, let me explain.
I (DM) have been leading the party toward a Dragon and its hoard. But the rumors surrounding the Dragon mark it as a deadly and powerful predator. However, while formidable, this Dragon is less interested in hoarding gold endlessly. This Dragon’s “treasure” is more like toys and trinkets.
Upon arrival, the Dragon will immediately greet them in a friendly manner, hopefully allowing for a friendly encounter before the party can start hastily casting fireballs or whatever.
My question is, what kind of Dragon should it be? I want it to be at least a bit accurate to source material. So, for example, the way White Dragons are a bit more bestial and predatory, is there a particular kind of dragon that is typically more open minded or indifferent to combat/conflict?
