On This Holy Day, Let’s talk about Vessantara Jataka ព្រះវេស្សន្ត

Maybe for my limited thoughts.

i need help all gracious and open-minded beings to solves on my doubts on this

Maha Dana the great giving.

it doesn’t sit right with me about “wife and his children“ are his own to give away.

🌸My take:

yes they are his own and he has right to be “the father” to give them away to some old man.

and another story of some future buddha or someone,

he gave away his children to Femal Yaksa.

but “the children” should have their own will to give themselves as the food to Yaksa or some being asked for them (the children).

Father has 21 ?! and Mother has 12 ?! that lead us have “human physical body“.

Giving away The wife is whole another story.

this misconception is leading for countless years about “wife and children” as men‘s property that lead to serious life sacrifices.

At least, this Maha Dana’s story has lord Bodhisatta (Currenr Gautama Buddha) grieving his children even he is happy to donate.

but for future buddha which is lord Rahu នារទ (Narat?) after Null Kalpa ( kalpa no buddha) after Lord Buddha Maitreya.

that he will give away his children to Female Yaksa, even his children was being eaten alive and shaking.

he feels “great” that their bloods splashed on the earth and his resolute not even shaken lead to future human (lifelong 10k year) can eat delicious dirt and have beauty like Devas?

🪷Honestly, i wanna know if whether Lord Maitreya’s Life as bodhisatva , did he encounte this kind of situation and how did he resolve it?

I hope to be born on that Era so i can ask this question too and many questions of mine haha.

Am I another Ananda?

If i have children and i need to face away this situation, what should i do and feel to avoid Negative thinking?

i think i would give them away too as a father, but what their own will to protect themselves is their own will, just avoid killing and save as much as Sila and Paramita.

if some yaksa so desperate to eat, just eat me because its my own decision and i only have rights to give away myself.
