Life is so unfair

Life is so unfair

My baby boy passed away last night. He was on 1000mg Keppra twice daily and 32.4mg of pheno twice a day. Even with the medication he would still have pop up seizures that never lasted long and he recovered quickly. Last night as we were cuddling he stood up and i could see he was about to go into one. But, before I could grab him he dove head first off my bed and onto the floor. He basically had one massive seizure even though there were 8 individual seizures he never recovered. He would be post ictal and go into another one. I put a wet towel on him in hopes of helping him cool down. I was home alone and he's 75lbs my husband was at work. I called my best friend and she came as fast as she could. But, by the time I got to the ER his lactate level was 18. He was deaf and blind, he wouldn't respond to anything. They gave him midazolam and they prepared propofol because his brain was just stuck. At 10:50pm I said my goodbyes and watched him run across the rainbow bridge. The vet told me that with his experience in dealing with seizures more likely my boy had a brain tumor and this wasn't epilepsy. But, I learned a lot in this group and I appreciate all the tips I was given. I wish all of you the best. Thank you for being so nice.

Ruff two days

I almost lost my boy, Clyde on May 14th. He's been on keppra for about a month and a half. Around 4:30 he had a cluster of seizures, after his fourth one I called the emergency vet and while I was in the phone he had a fifth one, he was overheated and we immediately took him in. As they were getting ready to start an IV he had a sixth one, each one lasting about a minute and thirty seconds. Right after they got the IV started he started to went into a seventh one and they were able to stop it with Midazolam. His numbers were high and the swelling on his brain was severe, his heart wasn't beating enough oxygen into his blood stream and his blood pressure was through the roof. He is an extremely anxious dog and they had to sedate him during his 12 hour stay at the hospital. I asked what I should do if he had another one due to the stress of the vet. She said he shouldn't because of how much medicine they had given him. The next morning around 6am he had another one. Since then he has been extremely clingy. My vet had added pheno, but this creates a new issue. Now we're going to have to take him in to have his blood drawn. We already have to have him sedated at the vet and going to the vet is his trigger. I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm not going to have Clyde much longer. He was only having seizures once a month. Now he's had 7 in two days. I'm so worried.
