Periodic shedding while on drugs is typical
I am sharing this to hopefully give others some reassurance and understanding about periodic shedding even while on hair loss drugs. I have 32 years of experience on topical minoxidil 2%, twice a day, for 31 years and 5% once a day for the last 2 months. I have also used spironolactone at times, PRP, LLLT, and currently finasteride (16 months). When you use any of these treatments or combine these treatments, what is happening is that you are synchronizing a very large amount of the follicles on your scalp to go through the follicular stages in synchrony. This is why you can experience periodic sheds, for me about almost every eight-10 months. If these sheds collectively mounted to anything significant, I would have very little hair on my head after decades. But what I have experienced, is that the shedding resolves rather quickly, and new hairs grow in rather quickly. Hope that helps.
