upgrading my bike - wheels

I'm interested to see peoples views on "better" wheels. Am I too slow to get any advantage from fancy deep carbon wheels?

I've added tri bars to by Domane SL5, and in my 2 sprint tris I've done I averaged 29kph for the bike section. I don't have the money for a full tri bike but was thinking what I could do to my bike to give some benefit, especially as the plan is once I'm fitter to go on to do Olympic then middle distance events, and one of the areas they saved money with the SL5 build was the wheels. So if I get some decent 80mm deep wheels would I actually see any benefit or would it be a complete waste of money?

how many triathlons in a season do you do?

I've just done my second ever sprint triathlon, and whilst I definitely was not challenging for my age group medals I really enjoyed it. It seems in the UK the season looks to go from April to October ish, and I'm looking to fit about 5 sprints in that period where I can fit them around my life, but, just out of interest, how may do you do in a year? Does this change when you go up in race length?

Ok. So I see I have to be a member or have a day race pass to take part in most events here. The annual pass is £71, a day race pass is £8. It just doesn’t seem worth it to become a member based purely on this unless I’m doing 10 or more races. Or am I missing some other amazing benefit??

I’ve only done 1 sprint triathlon before. I have my second coming up, but the weather looks to be typically British bank holiday, i.e. pissing it down. Do I just need to go for it and cycle/run in the cold rain or do people put cycling rain jackets etc in their transition area?
