How do you hold your yarn?
I got the knitpick winder, but the still flies all around the room, makes uneven tension and difficulty sliding the carriage.
Should I just make the switch to cone? Not a lot of options pre-coned, how do you wind them up?

Hey y'all. I found this vintage machine knitter cheap near me, just getting started, enjoy learning how this old machine works as much as anything else, but I have a few questions.
Does anybody know anything about this machine?
Do you think the newer accessories and advice will apply to this machine? (If I need new needles or weights or combs or... Anything)
It says 4-ply yarn can be used on the highest tension setting. The cheap polyester stuff from Walmart is what I'm using. Anybody know if it really can?
what do I oil it with? Should I oil it? I haven't been able to truly "cast on". But I have used the comb to get enough weight to knit a couple rows and it is TIGHT. I have to use almost my whole body weight to yank the carriage back and forth. I've tried a couple methods for casting on and nothing really seems like it's working.
Overall, any info or advice on this old thing would be appreciated!
