Please help me do better

Hello!

I am currently playing bass in a metal band in which I also do vocals! I have been playing bass for maybe 17 months now and feel so self-conscious about it since im nowhere near the skill level of my guitarist and drummer (who've done their respective instruments for years)

I really want to improve my bass skills and stop holding everyone back, but I've got no clue where to start?

Is there anything I should learn specifically? Or any techniques I should work on?

I don't really enjoy playing with a pick (at all) so if I can avoid that I will but please do let me know any skills I can work on !

Any metal specific tips would also be amazing!!!

Thanks in advance!
