IIM Day Dreaming > Actual CAT preparation. How do I stop this.

Is anyone else struggling with "IIM day dreaming" while studying?

I know focus matters more than sitting for long hours, but oftenly I find myself zoning out mid prep.

Instead of solving the actual Quant or Dilr problem, I start imagining myself walking into an IIM campus, or start thinking about how cool life will be after selecting in one of BLACKI. Next thing I know, 20 minutes are just gone. It feels good in that moment, but it's ruining my daily targets 🎯 .

Does this happens to you guys as well or I am the only one😢 who start dreaming about life at IIM. Guys how do you keep your mind from drifting away? Please share some best focus tips - seriously need them!

Expectation vs Reality: The CAT edition

Things I expected CAT would be-

✅Solving questions

✅Studing regularly

✅Getting a good percentile

📌Self Doubt- One fine day we confidently solve most of the question and other days a single topic makes us feel that we have learnt nothing. Kabhi kabhi lagta hai sab samajh aa rha hai, kabhi kuch nhi samajh ata and pura confidence hila deta hai.

📌 Consistency- Not every day is productive. Some days we study for hours, while on others, even opening book feels difficult. Har din perfect nhi hota, lekin har din kuch na kuch padhna jaruri hota hai.

📌 Learning from mistakes - Getting questions wrong doesn't mean we are weak it means we are learning. Galat answer failure nhi hota bss usse sikhna jaruri hota hai behtar bne ke liye.

📌 Discipline over motivation- Motivation comes and goes but decipline keeps us going.

CAT sirf aptitude, formulas, shortcuts ka exam nhi hai.

It's a test of Patience, Consistency, or staying Disciplin.

What's been the toughest part of your CAT journey so far, Self-doubt, Consistency, Patience, or staying Disciplined?

Need advice on Formula Book

Hey everyone! I need some advice on making formula book.

I have added formulas, shortcuts, tricks. I was thinking of adding important questions too, but the problem is if I keep on adding questions I ' Il probably fill up the entire notebook and may need another one.

How do you guys maintain your formula book? Do you only write formulas, shortcuts or anything else? How detailed should formula book be so that it remains useful for revision?

Would appreciate your suggestions!

CAT is about Decision Making

One thing that I have realised while preparing for CAT is that it's not just about aptitude - it' about Decision Making

If there is one thing that every CAT topper or mentor keeps repeating, it' this -

✅ Select right questions

✅ Leave wrong questions

✅ Manage time effectively

Sounds simple but still most of us commit the same mistake.

As mock season is coming, I am trying to focus on " attempting better."

The difference between a high scorer and a low scorer is often not knowledge but the decision made during those 2 hr or 120 minutes.

Better decision > More attempts
