Low Risk NIPT, elevated NT measurements.
Looking for some advice really. 15 weeks pregnant currently.
Had NIPT done and the results came back low risk for everything. The same day I had my 12 week scan and they detected possible extra fluid on the back of baby’s head/neck and abdomen so I was referred to Fetal medicine. (NT originally recorded as 2.5 but doctor at fetal medicine says more like 4)
Following week we saw fetal medicine and initially he was fairly happy and couldn’t see anything wrong, then did a transvaginal scan and decided he agreed about the neck/head fluid. Abdomen was fine.
Made the decision to have a CVS at that point but unfortunately we didn’t get results, the sample failed 😩
We’ve been offered an amnio but unsure on whether to go for it or see what comes of the early anatomy scan before making a decision. It will mean waiting an extra week/being further along. Worried about the miscarriage risk given I’ve been through it once already with the CVS and fallen into the small minority of the results failing!
Told 70% chance of health baby, 20% chromosomal issues (though likely lower due to NIPT) and 10% change of major structural issue.
Anyone been in a similar position and had both CVS and Amnio? Based in the UK. Thanks
