changing your country experience

Bit of a rant / warning story to anyone trying to do the same

I recently tried to switch my country to keep my prolific account, as the FAQ states is totally possible if you reach out to support. I had everything they said you needed: new ID, correct phone number, correct paypal, supported country. I’ve never tried to use a vpn or anything to access my account outside the country I had registered. After 15 (!!!) emails between me and the members of support I was passed around to, they decided that actually no, I was mistaken, but without pointing to any actual policy I was breaking. It was super frustrating to have done everything by the book and still have them go against their own policies. A good lesson in not trusting these gig websites, as they can go against their own rules with totally no consequences without ever giving you a straight answer. Was good while it lasted! Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?
