General offer of employment from ECC

When you get an initial offer from ECC, you essentially are given a window of time in which you’re likely to start, but your actual specific placement offer comes later. My question is this: can you accept the initial general offer with that window, but later reject the specific placement offer and ask for another placement at a later date?

Or is your initial acceptance taken as a guarantee that you’re gonna accept any placement given during that window?

I’m just curious because I can definitely accept the job later in the year, but earlier months are questionable. I want to accept the earlier time frame just in case I’m able to, but obviously I’d just ask for a later start date right away if my offer would be rescinded for rejecting a placement date.

Do you need to wear business attire in your photo for your COE application?

I already have a recent passport photo that would be perfect, but I’m wearing a plain T shirt. Do they care? I see nothing about wearing professional attire on the actual specifications page, but I know that sort of thing may be expected without anyone explicitly saying so. If it is expected, should I fully suit up for the pic?

ECC recruitment session: Should you say you have no location preference even if you do?

One of the emails I received from ECC mentions that being more flexible about location preferences may make for a stronger application, which is no surprise. On the actual paperwork that you hand in at the recruitment session, you can check the box “No preference.”

If I instead only checked the box for a specific area like Kanto, would that be taken as if I am only willing to live there, nowhere else? Because in my mind choosing preferences does not mean that I am unwilling to live elsewhere, but I’m not sure if it’s a red flag to the actual ECC folks.
