My last post about character designs was very popular, so here is another update!!
Lamalan is a world that I've been working on for over a decade. It is neither magical nor high-tech, but it takes place on a planet far from earth. The sapient civilized species is the llarma, which is, as the name implies, like a llama with two additional arms.
I have recently completed a point-and-click video game set in Lamalan. I really enjoyed the process, so I might make it a series! It was really interesting to figure out how to add little hints of worldbuilding in a game without much narration or dialogue. It also confronted me with many questions, like "what does a llarma bed look like?" and "would they use boxes or barrels?" In the end, I had to take some, let's say, creative liberties to balance between authenticity and what human players will recognize and understand.
This game is set in the city of Tur, the capital of House Auratía. Tur is an extremely populous city with a long history, so there is much to explore. In the game, you need to escape a historic fortified tower and docks. This area was once property of the Imperador of Auratía!
In the image, you see six screenshots from the game. You can see (1) a shop, (2) an imperial soldier guarding a door, (3) a kelp farmer in their boat, (4) some scrolls for sale, (5) a very fashionable llarma with Tur in the background, and (6) a traditional Auratían style of woven boat.
I hope it's okay to share a link to the game here... It is 100% free to play, so I assume it's equally as permissible as sharing any other document or website. If it's not allowed, I'll edit this right away!
