I need help shaping how I roleplay a character. Next week I’m going to start playing a new character: a half-elf warlock whose entire family has been contaminated / mutated and is being kept in a safe location. His motivation is to study the contaminating element in order to find a cure for them.

However, because of this, the character struggles with depression.

I’d like help portraying someone who doesn’t feel flat or one-dimensional — not someone who simply never wants to talk. He’s a warlock, so I feel like he should still be charismatic in some way.

I’d really appreciate any advice, examples of similar characters, or general ideas. Thank you very much.
