Payoneer demanding publicly visible address & phone in verification - - which Upwork deliberately hides. As well as full name which Upwork anonymizes. Account blocked. Has anyone resolved this?
Hi everyone,
I am a freelancer based in Serbia (independent contractor, project-based work). Since May 29, 2026, my Payoneer account has been on hold and I cannot receive payments. Payoneer’s verification team keeps sending me the same automated request asking for a profile link showing at least two of the following: full name, address, phone number, email, or photo.
I have submitted my Upwork profile multiple times:
The problem: Upwork intentionally does not display my address or phone number publicly, and rightly so, for the safety of freelancers. But Payoneer’s automated system keeps rejecting my profile because those fields aren’t publicly visible, even though my full name and photo are clearly there.
This is a fundamental conflict: Payoneer lists Upwork as an acceptable verification platform, but then demands information that Upwork deliberately keeps private for security reasons. No freelancer on Upwork can satisfy this requirement, it’s structurally impossible.
I have sent 18+ messages, submitted tax documentation, LinkedIn and Upwork profiles, and client references. Every response is the same automated template. I have escalated formally to VPOperations@payoneer.com today (June 3, 2026, 16:03 CEST).
Has anyone else experienced this? And can Upwork support please intervene, given that Payoneer is your payment partner and is blocking freelancers using your platform as verification, while simultaneously demanding data your platform protects?
