MBA for pivoting out of engineering?

I’m currently a civil engineer with 6 YOE, with a bachelor’s in engineering and no business background to speak of other than some minor project management experience.

I’m considering making the switch to finance. My wife and I have a baby on the way and I’m concerned a full-time curriculum will be difficult to maintain with half our normal income (my wife works full-time as well).

Is a full-time MBA strictly necessary to make it into a non-high finance role, or would part-time be worth it? I’m mainly interested in real estate development or infrastructure investments.
