A breed of malignant nurses think that by being hostile towards you asking them to do their job, being curiously relentlessly "busy", postponing tasks till you give up and take that pts ECG yourself etc that they will instil in you that you should not approach them in future. They think this because, to my disappointment and their glee, it has worked in the past. It is incredibly important we do not reward this behaviour and allow them to sit and discuss their upcoming trip to Bali and thereby punishing competent nursing staff by piling them with more work.

Rather we need to collectively push hard for the polar opposite.

You're going to snap at me for asking you to do a urine dip? You're going to reflexively tell me to do YOUR tasks YOU'RE supposed to do in ADDITION to the sea of tasks I have to do that you legally cannot? Congratulations bitch! 🥳 You just won yourself the grand prize of first priority for every single nursing task I need doing in the future.
