[Critique] Is my art good enough to sell pet commissions?
Hi! I’m trying to save up for studies, and I’ve always loved art, but I never really thought about turning it into a way to make money until I made this piece for my sister’s birthday.
I was actually really proud of how it turned out, and a lot of my friends suggested that I try doing pet commissions, especially dog portraits.
I mainly want to focus on the pets themselves rather than detailed backgrounds, since backgrounds add several extra hours. I was thinking that simpler backgrounds might keep the artwork cleaner, more focused on the pets, and more affordable as commissions.
I wanted some honest opinions:
-Is this good enough that people would realistically pay for it?
-What would you expect from pet commission artwork at this level?
-What do you suggest for backgrounds in pet portraits?
Any honest feedback or advice would really help!
(Added my reference photos aswell if that'll help)
Hello, thank you for reading this! We rescued an approximately 3-month-old puppy about a month ago, but we’ve been dealing with ongoing health issues. The main problem right now is his eating and trying to get some weight on him.
When he tries to eat, it almost looks like he’s trying to drink water. The food just drips out of his mouth while he keeps making that motion, and it seems like he physically can’t chew or swallow properly. I’ve tried using a syringe to help feed him, but that also just comes back out. He is not vomiting — he clearly wants to eat, but can’t keep the food in or swallow it properly. He also has very low energy and is struggling to gain any weight.
We are currently only giving soft foods like bone broth, small amounts of rice, meat, and pumpkin.
I’m feeling really lost and out of ideas. Any advice would be appreciated! (Unfortunately, seeing a vet is not financially possible right now.)
Additional info in case it helps: he is drinking a lot of water, his stool is hard, and he is not coughing, sneezing, or having any discharge from his nose. His gums are dark purple, which I’m very concerned about, and he is very thin with his bones clearly visible. We gave him a deworming tablet about two weeks ago, and as far as we know, he has not had any vaccinations
